We used the MCPC scale developed by the Giving Voice to Mothers Study through a community-based participatory research process. GVTM found an even higher rate of mistreatment (17%) among a convenience sample of pregnant people from marginalized groups htt
... mistreatment "such as loss of autonomy; being shouted at, scolded, or threatened; being ignored;refused, or receiving no response to a request for help. Women of color or w/ black partner, & the impoverished at a higher rate. https://t.co/zghVaL2
@ajschwabeMD Not here to argue safety of community birth. But many people choose it, understanding all risks, even with higher risk pregnancies, because past hospital birth experiences were awful. See for instance https://t.co/axDaCwHuVg
https://t.co/yF9CSeL8Fm This was specific to patient experience with HCWs but I would speculate could be significant societally. Observationally, it seems US peoples REALLY dislike pregnant people and people with children/children.
