I watched this all day. It takes a long time to make systemic change. However, it is somewhat sad to me that my prediction back in 2012 that it might take 50 years to get widespread newborn genome sequencing seems realistic. And, it may never be universal.
@DerksEske @StevePittelli @jacksonthorp @NatureGenet @zac_gerring @QIMRBerghofer Even ten years ago, I was publishing open access elsewhere for much lower fees. You could do the same, instead of putting behind a paywall. There are choices that can be made
@gabeinformatics yes, absolutely, I am absolutely ecstatic about this new opportunity! Wishing you all the best Gabe! and here's wishing to WGS for all newborns by 2062 at the latest, as we tried to forecast in 2012. https://t.co/eFB4YCiMxi
@cecilejanssens that being said, I really do still hope that WGS will get cheap & easy enough that it will be done on most newborns, by 2062, which is what I hoped for back in 2012, i.e. 50 years hence. https://t.co/eFB4YCiMxi although I am more cynica
